Embarking on a journey to Brazil with my children was an unforgettable experience, and along the way, we gathered invaluable insights that made our trip smoother and more enjoyable. Here are ten lessons that I learned while traveling with my kids to Brazil:
1. Opt for Night Flights: Flying over 10 hours with kids, especially my active and movement-loving autistic child, can be challenging. Night flights proved to be a game-changer, making the journey less stressful and more accommodating to their needs.
2. Pack a Change of Clothes: With temperature differences between Ireland and Brazil, having a change of clothes handy upon arrival at the airport is a lifesaver. This is particularly crucial when transitioning from winter to summer. Don't forget to pack snacks and water for the journey.
3. Prioritize Hydration: With the change in climate and long-haul flights, staying hydrated is essential. Ensuring both the kids and I had plenty of water made a significant difference in our comfort during the trip.
4. Bring Necessary Medications: Never forget to pack the essential medications your kids might need. Having their medicines with us provided peace of mind and ensured we were prepared for any unforeseen health needs.
5. Sun Protection is a Must: In the Brazilian sun, sun protection becomes paramount. Sunscreen with a high SPF, hats, and light cotton clothes are essential to shield the family from the strong rays.
6. Embrace a Minimalist Wardrobe: In the tropical climate, less is more. Light clothes without too many accessories proved to be both practical and comfortable for the kids.
7. Opt for Light Meals: With the heat, there's a higher chance of upset stomachs. Choosing light and easily digestible meals became our go-to strategy to keep everyone feeling good.
8. Carry Photocopies of Documents: To avoid unnecessary headaches, having photocopies of important documents while traveling is a simple yet effective precaution.
9. Explore Local Markets: The vibrant food markets in Brazil are a treasure trove of culinary delights. Taking the kids to sample the diverse array of fruits and vegetables became a cherished part of our journey.

*Fun fact about this picture: My son didn't know that the apples where for sale, he just picked one and started eating! Hahahah! this mother here was mortified and offered to pay for the apple, but the vendor thought that he was so innocent and enjoying so much the apple that she didn't charge us!
10. Capture Every Moment: Brazil's beauty is abundant, and so are the memories you can create. Taking tons of photos and videos became a delightful way to preserve our experiences. Remember to save them all in the cloud to avoid the heartache of lost memories.

Bonus Tip: Allow for Traffic Delays: Traffic in Brazil can be notoriously hectic, so allowing plenty of time for travel is crucial. Unexpected delays can happen, and it's better to be safe than sorry.
In navigating Brazil with my kids, these lessons transformed challenges into opportunities for unforgettable moments and seamless travel. Here's to the joy of exploration and the wisdom gained from our family adventure! 🌎✈️ #FamilyTravelBrazil #AdventureAwaits #TravelWithKids
